Silverette® are made from 925 silver. Silver is a naturally anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial metal which can help ward off bacteria and infections.
Silverette®'s unique design fits comfortably over the nipple to help provide relief and comfort to sore nipples and to help heal damaged nipples.
Years of research helped design the rounded peak that fits comfortably over the areala and nipple without compression. It's the only brand in the world with a patent on this design.
925 silver (sterling silver) is the purest form of silver that can be molded into shape. It contains 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. Pure silver is malleable so copper is added to be sure the cups can be molded into the anatomical shape. Silverette® is safe for mom and baby and is nickel free.
Simply express a drop of milk into the cup and place them over your nipple after nursing or pumping using your bra to keep them in place.
Silverette® cups should be washed daily with warm water. You can also polish your cups by making a paste with baking soda and a bit of water. Rub the paste over the cups and then rinse with warm water. Either way, be sure to dry your cups thoroughly to avoid any staining and oxidization.
Silverette® comes in three sizes. Please see the sizing chart to help determine which cup to choose. The areola diameter is the more important aspect to consider.
If you are right on the cusp, choose the next size up. Keep in mind your breasts will grow throughout pregnancy and also when your milk comes in. If you are buying for a gift and arent sure then choose the medium.
Yes! Simply place the pads directly over the Silverette® cups and your bra will hold everything in place.
Due to hygiene purposes Silverette cups can not be returned.
Natural oxidation may occur when using the Silverette® cups. This is when the silver develops a brass yellow colour. Rest assure this is normal and it is important for users to know the cups are still effective and most importantly safe to use for mum and baby.
So why does this occur? This is due to the natural oxidisation process that occurs in alloy used in Silverette® that reacts to the oxygen, sulfur and moisture in the air. When copper oxidizes in the air, a build up occurs on the outer layer of the sterling silver piece. Though tarnishing can be seen as a bad thing, it is a sign that the silver item is genuine sterling silver.
To remove the tarnish, make a paste using a mix of bicarbonate of soda (one teaspoon) with a few drops of water. Rub the paste over the cups, rinse and pat dry.
